H-1 Boodle contest 10/98

What Is Boodle?

Anything sent from home that brings instant gratification :-)
It's Almost always in the form of something to eat that is sweet, salty, yummy!!!!

Boodle can also be sent from one of the boodle companies formed for such a purpose.

DO NOT send Boodle to your cadet until they tell you it is ok to do so!
Boodle can not be received until after Acceptance. So bake now, but freeze it and wait. Your new Cadet will appreciate your efforts.

Some unofficial rules (as your Cadet would give them)

  • SEND LOTS
  • SEND ENOUGH TO SHARE
  • BEST IF BAKED AT HOME
  • BEST IF IN HUGE AMOUNTS
  • BEST IF SENT FREQUENTLY
  • BEST IF NOT IN THE FORM OF "HEALTH FOOD"

Some OTHER boodle ideas... sent by many parents

  • Coffee mugs/soup mugs

  • Plastic eating utensils
  • Send a large tupperware type drinking glass with lid and some powdered drink mix such as lemonade, tang, etc. The cadet can mix the beverage by shaking the glass.

  • One bag of favorite candy or candy bars (seasonal if a holiday is coming up)
  • Microwave "Lunch Buckets" of Dinty Moore Stew, spaghetti, lasagna, chix and noodles (every company usually has a microwave)
  • Bag of prepopped pop corn (unopened bag used as a filler in the top of the shipping box)
  • Drink mix of home made spice tea (I have the recipe if anyone needs it marknlin@nishna.net) Big hit in companies on long winter's nights
  • Crackers and cheese or peanut butter packages
  • Kits of crackers, chicken and seasonings or tuna, crackers and seasonings to be mixed by user
  • Summer sausage in small size so they can eat in one sitting
  • Flavored gourmet coffees and creamers
  • Box of cheese flavored crackers such as Goldfish (big hit)
  • Anything as I cruise the grocery store aisles that keeps at room temperature, is tasty, can finish in one sitting if it needs refrig. after opening.
  • I also sign the guys up for Piece of Cake's regular 5 or 6 times a year deliveries so they get fresh fruit and something different every now and then.
  • Popcorn and other crispy items wilt rapidly in the high humidity in the region.
  • Others have suggested peanut butter, crackers, granola bars, Power bars, Balance Bars, pretzels, nuts, raisins or other dried fruits, water-packed tuna, canned deviled ham, small cans of fruit or applesauce (remember to send a can opener, or get the "pop top" canned goods and spoons).
