Just after midnight on New Year's Day, Antonio Buehler was out for the evening as the designated driver with a friend stopping at the 7/11 at 10th and Lamar to get fuel. On the street, Austin police had pulled over a car carrying two women, conducting a field sobriety test on the driver with the other woman still inside. "All of the sudden we hear this violent scream and see this muscular cop yanking this woman right out of the car," said Buehler.

Buehler is a former West Point officer who served in Kosovo and Iraq before graduating from Stanford with his MBA.  He said when he saw the woman get thrown to the ground, his instinct to protect kicked in.
