WEST POINT, N.Y. – Cadet David Bindon of Canton, Michigan, has been selected First Captain of the U.S. Military Academy’s Corps of Cadets for the 2018-2019 academic year, achieving the highest position in the cadet chain of command. He will assume his duties on Aug.13.
Bindon, a Mechanical Engineering major, recently led 1,408 cadets as the Commander of Cadet Field Training II.
Now as First Captain, he carries the responsibility for the overall performance of the approximately 4,400-member Corps of Cadets. His duties include implementing a class agendaand acting as a liaison between the Corps and the administration.
“David’s selection is a direct result of his hard work, dedication and commitment to the Corps over the last three years,” said Brig. Gen. Steve Gilland, commandant of cadets. “I know David and the rest of our incredibly talented leaders within the Class of 2019 will provide exceptional leadership to the Corps of Cadets in the upcoming academic year.”
