At this time WP-ORG is having its semi-annual fund drive. If you haven’t had the time or opportunity to make your donation please feel free to do so at:

I’m Dan Welle, husband of Dian Welle (one of WP-ORG’s employees) and father of a 2002 West Point Grad. In a few weeks my daughter will celebrate her sixteenth anniversary of selfless service to our country. At the same time WP-ORG is celebrating just over twenty-two years of service to you, the West Point community.

At the Celebration of Life for Jack Price ‘64, I was reminded of the things that I had experienced because of my association with WP-ORG. I want to share my experiences and thoughts I have had in my twenty year odyssey with WP-ORG.  Because of WP-ORG and my association with it, I share with Dian a coin given to us by Superintendent Lt. General Lennox for our assistance with the Cadet participation in the 2002 Rose Parade in Pasadena. While visiting USMA for a WP-ORG function, a Sociology Professor heard that I was a Police Detective and asked me to speak to a class regarding the rigors of urban police work.  On another visit, because I was an older Detective who wore a coat and tie when appearing officially, I was surprised when I received a salute from Secretary of State Alexander Haig and his entourage as we passed each other on Diagonal Walk. Yes, I returned the salute as crisply and smartly as I could. The association with WP-ORG has allowed me to accompany my wife as we toured the attic of the First Division and saw first-hand what Cadets did for entertainment in years past. If my close association with WP-ORG has enriched my life this much, what can it do for you?

I remember when Dian was brought on board by the Board of Advisors. I remember the people I have come to know because of that association, Ditus Bolanos '90, Dick Breakiron '51, Jack Price '64, Dempsey Darrow '75, Mike McGurk '85, and Warren Hearnes '89 to name a few. The entire body of Advisors have taken an idea, made it a reality and with your help kept it running for 22 years. I have seen Dian and Megan work together seamlessly to provide you with service that you cannot get from other social media.

WP-ORG is a unique platform. Its span is not that of social media. What it does for the West Point community is limited only by imagination. At WP-ORG there is no telephone tree. There is a human being at the other end of that phone call, no matter where you call from or the time of day. Dian’s office is at home, but we never travel without her cell and laptop. I cannot count the times, that while driving down the road she has received a call from someone within the WP-ORG community. The moment I became aware the call was a WP-ORG call I knew the answer was going to be, "Yes." or "I’ll find out." With that she would break out the laptop to assist a grad, parent or other member of the WP-ORG community.  Requests are answered and the need fulfilled. WP-ORG is private; its email lists are not open to the World Wide Web. It is safe, secure, and none of your information or posts are shared with anyone. WP-ORG not only connects Grads, classmates and families, it provides a private forum for the West Point and USNA community.

A lot of what has been done at WP-ORG is the result of someone asking, "Hey, can you do this?" The WP-ORG answer is usually, "Yes." True, there are many forms of social media out there but they are not yours, and they are not private. Your donation will maintain that which no other social media can give you. What connection will you make today?

To those who have already donated, thank you for making WP-ORG services possible.  If you have not donated, please consider helping to continue the work they are doing. WP-ORG needs your support.
