Sewing Pattern 1
Sewing Pattern 2
Sewing Pattern 3
Here are some basic directions, but feel free to use any shortcuts that you prefer. Please be sure to only use felt for the cuffs so that we can add glue and glitter for the first names of our troops. THANK YOU so much.
Fabric: Christmas Fabric or any colorful fabric (a half yard will make 2 complete stockings)
Felt: White, Red or Green
Loop: Felt, Ribbon or Matching Fabric
Finished Size: 16” High
Prepare the pattern:
# 1. Print the 3 pages with the pattern pieces.
# 2. Cut out pattern pieces on the solid lines and tape together the pieces as directed: Stocking Top is taped to Stocking Bottom at the “**”S. Cuff 1 is taped to Cuff 2 at the arrows. You now have 2 complete pattern pieces: 1 stocking and 1 cuff.
Fabric:
# 1. Using the taped together stocking pattern, cut 2 stockings. Using the taped together cuff pattern, cut out 1 cuff from the felt.
# 2. Cut a 1” x 5” piece of fabric or ribbon for the loop or you can use the extra piece of felt trimmed from the cuff after sewing (this will become clearer as you finish your stocking).
Sewing:
#1. Pin stockings right sides together. Sew from point A to point B.
#2. Open stocking, attach the felt cuff piece to the wrong side of the stocking at the top edge. Sew across the top edge attaching the felt to the wrong side of the stocking. You will have some extra felt which can be cut off and used for the loop – do not cut this extra off yet.
#3. With right sides together, lift felt up & out of the way. Sew from point B to point C. Stop. Do not include the felt portion yet.
#4. Turn the stocking right sides out and lift felt up and out. Push the edges of the felt to the outside. Trim the extra felt away from the seam allowance and use for the Loop. Place the Loop (if using the extra felt fold in half) or ribbon (folded in half) in the open seam of the felt, near bottom edge of the felt (which is close to the top edge of stocking.) Place Loop facing inside and UP. Sew the felt side seam closed, sewing from the top of the stocking to the top of the felt catching the Loop in the seam. Get as close to the top of the stocking as you can so you do not leave a gap there.
#5. Trim side seam allowance and make any adjustments to create an even raw edge of the cuff.
#6. Turn the cuff over the stocking, the loop should stick out at this point. That’s all there is – Have Fun. Thank You So Much.
