-Merit Badges-

The first step in earning a merit badge with Troop 23 is to make contact with our Assistant Scout Master for merit badges, Mr Bill Bland. Mr Bland can give you the names of the counselors for each badge, and will probably recommend one specific person for you to contact.

Attention, parents of scouts! The Troop can always use more merit badge counselors. Check out the list of merit badges in your scout's manual, or go to the merit badge website (link below) to see what's available. Then contact Mr Bland, who can tell you for which of the badges we most need counselors. He can also provide you with the application, which is free.

We can always use volunteers to set up a merit badge program. These are usually a series of meetings, at which some of the requirements are either worked on, or checked, or both. In the past we have done these for the following: Emergency Preparedness, First Aid, Environmenta Science, Orienteering, Reading, Scholarship, and the three Citizenship badges. Contact Mr Bland or the Scoutmaster to get organized.
