The 1999 Sandhurst Competition was conducted at West Point on Saturday, 1 May 1999,
between 0600-1630 hours.
Sandhurst is an annual competition involving teams from each USMA company,
Sandhurst (Britain's Military Academy), and some other schools' ROTC detachments.
There are events which involve military skills such as running(some segments while
wearing a gas mask), rappelling, wall climbing, bridge-building, rifle marksmanship, land
navigation, NBC and first aid skills.
The concept of the competition is that each company will provide one, 9 member squad,
that will be required to perform a series of military tasks while moving non tactically, as
rapidly as possible over a partly prescribed route of about 9 Kms, over a 175 minute time period.
