The West
Point Mission
To educate, train,
and inspire the Corps of Cadets so that each graduate is a
commissioned leader of character committed tothe values of Duty,
Honor, Country; professional development as a career officer in
the United States Army; and a lifetime of selfless service to the
Nation.
Things to consider:
- West Point will train you to best serve your country,
which is the only GOOD reason for wanting to
attend. After Graduation you serve your country as
a U.S. Army officer. You will be commissioned as a
second lieutenant and will serve on active duty for at
least five years, including possible overseas assignments
and further opportunities for personal and professional
growth.
- West Point offers one of the most highly respected,
quality education programs in the nation.
- Attendance is a fully funded four-year Federal Government
scholarship.
- It is the nation's oldest service academy, providing an
outstanding education since its founding in 1802.
- The institution is accredited by the Commission on Higher
Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges
and Schools.
- Because of your education and leadership
experience, you will likely be sought out for high level
leadership positions within the Army, and once you leave
or retire from the Army, you are likely to continue to be
further selected for high level job positions.
