Memorial Day 2013
Prior to the services at Arlington, members of several Gold Star organizations were invited
to have breakfast at the White House. Representing AWON were Susan Hadler, Phyllis Louis,
Betty Palonen Volken, Lee Mathis, and Anne Black. All had the opportunity to personally
meet and shake hands with President and Mrs. Obama.
This beautiful AWON wreath was laid at the Tomb of the Unknowns
at Arlington National Cemetery.
