The SoCal AWON group met in San Marcos on February 16 at Johnny Carino’s Italian restaurant.  Linda Hallack Porter made the arrangements, which were perfect including good food, a private room and a table for memorabilia. Six AWONers and three spouses were in attendance: Roger and Sharon Crowley Connor, Lorin McCleary and wife Roberta, Vic Muller, Linda Hallack Porter and husband Bob, and Barbara Merryman Swenson and husband Dick.

The conversation centered mostly around the AWONers' fathers and a brother, in Vic’s case, including the search for information about them. Vic brought everyone up to date on the memorial to his brother  which he is having built in Germany. Lorin talked about some of the early history of AWON and shared his and Roberta’s excitement about the house they are building in northern New Mexico. Also discussed was the November 2008 AWON conference in Tucson. Sharon is co-chair with Penny LeGrand Hopkins. All at the luncheon hope to attend the Conference.

This was the first SoCal luncheon that Lorin had attended, and everyone was pleased and honored that he came. Lorin is one of the First Founders of AWON and helped Ann Mix get the organization off the ground.
