American Legion Headquarters
The annual, in person, board meeting of the AWON Board of Directors was held in Indianapolis. The visit was coordinated by Walt Linne and Barb Kelly. Walt gave the board a tour of the American Legion Headquarters, which included the AWON office. The American Legion graciously donated conference room space for the AWON Board Meeting. Barb hosted everyone at her house on Friday night for a delicious dinner and loads of fun. Penny LeGrand attended and reported on her research for a conference hotel for 2012. Walt and Barb, co chairs for the conference, reported on their solid progress in planning the meeting. Ann Whalen O'Connor, AWON Archivist, presented her labor of love for AWON; the extensive archive of newspaper and magazine articles about the organization and its members which she has collected and preserved over many years. The board accomplished a great deal of work and enjoyed laughing and being together with AWON friends.
