Johnny Webb was unable to join AWON this year in Annapolis due to a broken arm
which happened shortly before the conference. Steve Thompson did a great job
as a last minute replacement. He described CilHi's mission and accomplishments
in a very interesting presentation.

Col. (R.) Jerry Lyons, author of "If These Stones Could Talk," donated a portion of his
book's sales to AWON after his lecture. Pictured with Col. Lyons is his wife, Helen.

Joost Claasens of the Netherlands told a fascinating story of his family's involvement
during WWII and of his adoption of an American soldier's grave at Margraten Cemetery.

Vamik Volkan, AWON's resident psychiatrist, was the keynote speaker this year,
here being introduced by emcee, Bonnie Hellums.

Col. (R.) Phillip Torrey, son of Commander Philip Huston Torrey, Jr. U.S.N., described
his visit to the Japanese village where his father's plane had been shot down and
what happened when he met the people in the village who had respectfully buried
his father's body. To Phillip's left is his sister, Barbara Torrey Smith.
