My wife is trying to find records
    about her Uncle, Roy Jefferson Griffith, POW.

    "Roy Jefferson Griffith was reported "missing in action" at the time of the capitulation of the Manila Bay Area, Philippine Islands, to the Japanese forces.   Subsequently reported by the Int'l Red Cross to be held as prisoner of war.   On February 19, 1945, Status officially changed from Prisoner of War to Survivor from Bilibid Prison, Manila, Philippine Islands.

    Roy Jefferson Griffith, 380 07 41, Chief Commissaryman, USN;   enlisted US Army 1918.   Navy service 1919 served on USS Pittsburgh, John D. Ford, Pecos, Barker.   Reported to Fort Mills, Corregidor, captured 6 May 1942.   POW at Bilibid, Manila Phillippine Islands 1945.

    Reported Ninth Naval Dist., Great Lakes, Ill., 1946.   Released from duty.   Lived at Kennebeck Hotel, Long Beach, CA 1949, Retired - Lived Fleet Reserve Vets Memorial Bldg, Long Beach 2, CA, 1954.   Died and buried at Magazine, Logan Co, Arkansas
