"My uncle, Maj Irving Mandelson was killed on the Oryoku Maru.   I have been collecting info on his activities for many years now; but I have not been able to locate what outfit he was in at the outbreak.

I know his mailing address was Ft McKinley.   An article in a newspaper stated he commanded a battalion in the 52nd.   I'm not sure if the 52nd was part of the American Army or the P. A. I was hoping I could find a roster for that group for that period.

A Major Wilkes in the 51st Infantry may know about my uncle and I would like to know how to contact him, also."
