My name is Jeffrey R. Petersen nephew of Second Lieutenant Donald W. Petersen.
My uncle was an Army Air Corps pilot in the Philippines (at Clark or Nichols I believe) when the Japanese invaded the Philippines.   He was hastily assigned as a forward observer in the Mariveles Mountains on the Bataan Peninsula when he was captured.

He endured the death march, O' Donnell, Cabanatuan, Prison Camp # 2 in Davao, Mindanao, Lasang Airport detail and the hell ship Shinyo Maru, where he met his death when sunk by the USS Paddle Submarine on September 7th, 1944.   His ASN number was 0-412156.

I'm looking to gain any additional information that may be available regarding my uncle's time in the Philippines.   Additionally, I would talk with anyone who may have known him.   I have no knowledge of what unit he was assigned to.

Please feel free to call or E-mail me.
