Military Appreciation Revisited
"In the past few weeks we have received many responses to our
Military Appreciation Sunday. Because some of them were so
meaningful and heartfelt, we thought our ABF Flash “subscribers”
would like to know how this service touched people in different
ways - - - enjoy!"
Steve Holley, Pastor of Family Education
From a son:
“My Father was killed in WWII in the Philippines in 1944; I do not
remember him at all. At the Memorial Day service, when you
asked anyone who had a close relative who did not return after a
war to stand up, Barbara and I stood up. My eyes were so moist I
could not look around. I have never been asked to honor my father
like that - - - and was I taken back! Wow! That meant so much to me."
From a retired Navy Veteran:
"Just a note to say how much we enjoyed Sunday's service. From
the music and testimonies to the speaker, Stu Weber, it was truly
inspirational making us all proud to be Americans. We have so
much in this country to be proud of and thankful for. It was truly a
day that the Lord had made, and I wanted to personally thank IBC
for its role in that; these events are a lot of work!"
From a veteran of the D-Day Invasion at Omaha Beach:
This Sunday, May 27, “Military Appreciation” was special, and I
had to say “thank you” for remembering us. It was a real thrill to
be recognized by your church members. I am proud to admit, at the
end of the service when you played “Taps”, I could only think of
the friends I left on Omaha Beach. Yes, Pastor, I cried. Thank you so much!”
