"I came across this website while looking for information, and hoped you might steer me in the right direction.

My uncle, my mother's only brother was PFC Vernon C. Smalley  17-014-184.   His unit was the 31st Infantry at Fort McKinley.   He died at Cabanatuan Prison Camp on 26 July 1942.   The notification letter was signed by 1st Lt. Elmer R. Mook and dated 24 April 1946.  Mother is getting on in years and would like to know more.
