"We're trying to find the son of Commander Hayes of Bilibid fame.   Son is Thomas Hirst Hayes Jr., born 2/24/1933 in Alexandria, Va.

We got down to DC and at the Navy's Bureau of Medicine Archives found the entire Hayes diary, a remarkable document.   Now if we can just put some flesh and bones on the man, we should have a very nice chapter on that famous venue.

    Of interest to readers:
We have switched publishers.   We are now with Farrar, Straus & Giroux, considered the premier American publisher.   And here's the really big news: our editor there is John Glusman, son of former Lt. (JG) Murray Glusman, who was captured on Corregidor in May 1942, was at Bilibid for a while, then was shipped to Kobe.   What could be better than to have as an editor the son of a Corregidor POW?   We are delighted and so is John."

    Best,
    Michael Norman
