Stanley L. Falk
Stanley L. Falk is a military historian specializing in World War II in the Pacific and Southeast Asia. He holds MA and PhD degrees in American History from Georgetown University.
He is a former Chief Historian of the Air Force and has also been Professor of International relations at the Industrial College of the Armed Forces and Deputy Chief Historian for Southeast Asia at the Army Center of Military History. He also served in the Historical Division of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
A graduate of the World War II Army Japanese Language Program, he served for two years as an historical officer in the GHQ Historical Section, US Army Far East Command, Tokyo. After returning to civilian life, he remained in the Army Reserve, eventually retiring with the rank of colonel.
He is the author of five books on World War II, including Bataan: The March of Death, Decision at Leyte, and Seventy Days to Singapore, as well as textbooks on national security affairs, and numerous essays, articles, and reviews.
He has lectured in the United States and abroad: at war colleges, universities, and other institutions, as well as appearing on the programs of scholarly and professional organizations.
