A Tribute to Jesse K. White
by Mary Sheets, daughter

My father was Msgt. (ret) USAF Jesse K. White,   HQ & HQ Squadron, 24th Pursuit Group.   He was a survivor of Bataan, Camp O'Donnell, Clark Field, Cabanatuan, Camp Hoten - Mukden, Manchuria.

Jesse was active in ADBC, Bataan Veterans Organization, AEXPOW, at local and state levels.   He was the service officer for the El Paso Chapter for many years, and originator and editor of the AEXPOW local chapter newsletter (El Paso Chapter Chatter).   He and his wife Frances had an open-door policy, and welcomed anyone any hour into our home.   They thoroughly enjoyed conventions and visits with POW buddies.   Jesse and Frances moved to Florida in 1995, due to failing health, and to be close to their daughter and family.   Jesse suffered a heart attack June 25, 1996 and passed quietly into the arms of heaven on June 30, 1996.   Frances joined him in their "nest in the clouds," on July 18, 1998.
