Dad went to the Philippines in May 1941 as a second Lt. He was assigned
to the 31st Infantry. In August or September he was assigned as an Instructor to
the 71st Infantry on Negros. He was with the 71st Infantry when they met
the Lingayen Gulf Invasion in December and was involved in the delaying action
at the Calumpit Bridges. Later he was involved in the Points battles.
Dad
worked on a manuscript outlining his story in 1946/47 but never finished
it. I should be able to put together a brief biographical sketch for the web site.
