My name is Nancy Cooper Matthews and my father was James Noel Cooper.   He was aboard the Canopus and taken prisoner at Corregidor.   I have a biographical sketch for my father at This location on the Internet.   It is dedicated to his memory.

He was in the following prison camps:
92nd GARAGE;   BILIBID;   CABANATUAN Camps 1 and 3 until October 1942;   Transported to Japan aboard the "Nagata Maru";  TANAGAWA arrived in November 1942;   UMEDA BUNSHA arrived May 15, 1943;   TSURUGA arrived May 15, 1945.

I also have a document that was written by Captain Sackett and distributed to the families of the Canopus crew in May 1943.   That document along with the cover letter can be found at   This Location.    If anyone is unable to access the document, I would be glad to provide them with printed copies.

      Thank you so very much,
