Descendants Group Organization

    During the April 2007 National Convention of the American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor (ADBC), the ADBC asked the Descendants Group (DG) to take an increasingly active role in putting on the conventions, culminating in 2010 when the DG will take full responsibility for the convention.  In order to better fulfill this expanded role, the Descendants are moving forward to develop a more formal organizational structure and relationship with the ADBC.  During the coming year, we will develop a proposal to be presented to the DG, at the next convention, for a new organization including non-profit tax status, mission statement, board of directors, etc.  The name of the organization is the "Descendants Group, an Auxiliary of the American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor".  We will begin accepting membership applications (see form below) immediately, with dues of $25/year.  The ADBC has generously donated the proceeds of the convention raffle to our fledgling group ($925) to give us a start.
    In addition to supporting the ADBC, the organization's ultimate purpose/mission will be related to educating Americans about the Japanese invasion of the Philippines and the experiences of the men and women who subsequently became Japanese prisoners of war.  I encourage all relatives and friends of ex-POWs to become involved in this new group and help us begin a great organization that can carry on the legacy of these exceptional men and women.
