Ongoing Insurgency in Afghanistan

Sean Kilbride sent me this clip that was aired on 60 minutes this past weekend.  It’s about his younger brother’s Company from the 101st who are in Afghanistan and some of the challenges they’re facing.

These folks are the real deal, and on the literal front lines of our country’s war on terror.  Great story, and great job by Thomas Kilbride.

CPT Ben Smith Airfield

Fellow Classmates,

On October 4, 2008 there will be a dedication ceremony for an airfield that Ben’s hometown is naming in his honor.  I’ve attached the flyer that Shannon Whiteman sent me.  I realize it’s somewhat of a long shot with short notice, but if you happen to live in the area it would probably be quite an experience to attend.

USMA Class of 1999 Ten Year Reunion

It looks like it’s time for the Class of 1999 blog to be put to some real use. Khanh Diep, our class secretary, sent out an email to the Class of 1999 AOG distro list with some details that I’ll repeat here.

The reunion will be October 1-4, 2009. We’ll be watching an entirely new and improved (complete with new offense) Army football team play Tulane. There’s a survey on the AOG homepage that everyone is asked to complete. You can find it by following this link:

http://www.westpointaog.org/NetCommunity/Page.aspx?pid=2805&srcid=2805

..and logging in with your cullum number and password. If you have problems logging in, contact AOG and they’ll give you some help.

Facebook and USMA

Jason Whiteley sent me a note the other day about ‘99 and Facebook. Apparently there’s quite a few classmates that are now using Facebook to keep in touch, and there’s even a Class of 1999 group that you can join if you want to show everyone a shot of your ugly mug. So if you’re interested, navigate on over to http://www.facebook.com and see what’s going on.  You can find the group by searching for “West Point Class of 1999″.
