Classmate Update

And we’re finally caught up! I’m pleased to bring you the most recent classmate updates I have, the newest of which came in less than a week ago.

Gabe Smith, a fellow G2 Gator, sent me the following:

Two weeks after graduation Janet and I were married in Charlotte, NC. After all of the fun at Fort Benning we moved to DC where I did my platoon leader and XO time with the 3rd Infantry (Old Guard). I was at the Pentagon on September 11th. After the Captain’s Course at Benning we moved to Fort Lewis, WA and deployed to Iraq with 3rd Brigade, 2nd ID. Following the deployment I took an assignment as an APMS at Clemson University and started Seminary. In December 2006 Janet and I welcomed our daughter, Madeline into the world. Two months later we left active duty entering the Chaplain’s Candidate program, and moved to Charlotte, NC where I am pursuing a Master’s of Divinity at Gordon Conwell and working full time as an Outreach and Missions Pastor. The plan is to finish Seminary in the next 4 years and return to active duty as a Chaplain - hopefully working for a classmate (I’ll still be a Captain).

I got a very short email from our favorite Turkish exchange cadet — Mehmet Celebioglu, aka Cele. I didn’t get any details on what he’s up to, but hopefully he’ll send some more info soon.

And last but not least, Becca Czirjak sent me another note with some recent information. She says:

Czirajak Kiddos

Ok, I’m going to hog your updates and tell you that Dan and I just had our second kid. Sara was born in October 2007, 2 weeks before Eve turned 3. Dan is currently a contractor teaching CPTs at the MI School and I’m halfway through getting my MBA. I’ve attached a picture of the kids.

Before we moved down to Arizona, we were at Riley and next door neighbors to Dirk and Allegra Steinfort and their 3 kids. How random is that? Dan was also on BDE staff with Scott Bronikowski and he and his wife Kara, along with their daughter Emma, were good friends of ours while we were there.

And that’s it. I believe I’m current on updates. If you haven’t sent one in please consider doing so. It doesn’t have to be anything elaborate — a quick note to say hello is sufficient.
