Riot in Central Area
Posted on December 20th, 2007 by AlexClass of 99-er Sean Mattingly sent me this a quite a while ago, and I lost it until just recently. Some of you may have heard about a “drug sting” at USMA in April of 2006. Apparently, the BTO announced that there would be a Corps-wide fire drill the next day early in the morning. Once everyone was out of the barracks, he sent in K9 units from local law enforcement agencies. This heated up the Corps pretty good, and that night a “riot” ensued. Seems to me like we used to call them Spirit Rallies when we were there.

The commentary in the report is nothing short of hilarious. For example:
Platoon size element of MPs arrived in Central Area and the cadets cheered and shouted more obscenities.
and
One cadet got hit with a peanut butter jar, but was not seriously injured.
So, was this a great way to get everyone out of the barracks for a Corps-wide “health and welfare” inspection? Probably. Was this a great idea to actually execute? Probably not. I think one of the ‘99 comments in the email chain summed it up well: This guy (the ‘06 BTO) makes Skeletor look good.
