Class of '91 Reunion Info (as of 5 Mar 01)
Congratulations to Hoop and BJ for being selected for promotion to Major below the zone! For those of you who have popped smoke from the Army, the FY 00 Promotion Board Results for Major were released on 17 August. Army wide, only 89 officers (4.8%) were selected below the zone. I think I speak for everyone in congratulating Hoop and BJ. The Army could not have selected two more deserving and better qualified officers.
Great job guys! You done good, and we're all proud of you. GO 'CANES!

(20 Feb 01) Peekster and Kristy announce the arrival of their 2d son! (20 Feb 01) Hank and Jenny add Gil to their family! (20 Feb 01) Yipper checks in (new email address too) (5 Oct 00) Michael reports in from the ICU (3 Oct 00) Jack's new address and email (3 Oct 00) Hurricane Tracker  "Rob, Greetings from long ago and a land far away. After 10 years, I finally logged on the web site. It was nice seeing Pete a couple years ago. Glad to hear he is doing well with Parke-Davis. And yes, as Peter reported, I am a legal drug pusher. Have been for 5 years since getting out. Kinda makes sense with all the trouble I was fortunate enough to get into at school.
"Thanks for keeping up the site--it was great to check in and see what everyone has been up to. Great news for Hoop and BJ. Personally, I'm enjoying the freedom of civilian life. I'm still married to the same person that Casino had to drag up on stage. I've got a little 2 1/2 year old girl named Rebecca who is my new focus in life. And, consequently, I'm losing my hair. Currently, I am Manager of training for a small derm company, but am leaving to go back to big pharma (financial security, flexibility, yada yada yada). What a life this mercenary thing is. I just have to improve on the "play hard" side of "work hard, play hard". Never have been too good at that.
"Anyway congratulations on your decision to go to med school and follow in successful footsteps. Maybe in my nomadic travels, I'll be a drug rep harassing you some day! Wouldn't that be funny? I'm gonna try sending a picture, but only time will tell if I did it correctly! John" 117 Equestrian Lane
"Hey BQ how is it going. Jennifer and I are still happily married with no kids. I love toys too much to have kids. Jen and I just left Fort Bragg in August and are now at Fort Knox, an odd place for two pilots to end up. Jen and I have both received our senior wings and both spent time in Bosnia while at Bragg. The dual military thing is tough. We spend an average of about 90-120 days a year together even here (another reason for not having kids). I am working AC/RC as the Battalion S3 for 1-337th AV BN (TS) and Jen is the S3 for 5th Brigade 2nd ROTC Region. It is a nice break after 4 years at Fort Bragg. Mike Parsons called me at work the other day he may be coming to my unit in June. My work phone is DSN 464-8445 commercial (502) 624-8445. My email address at work is ashm@ftknox-emh9.army.mil." What else have I been up to? Well, I have decided to make a career transition. I have decided to follow in the footsteps of my former fellow FA brethren MAJ Smith, Al Tiu (he actually selected FA as his branch), Michael Ellis, and Jon Gonzalez and apply to medical school. I sent my application and transcripts in in June and hope to enter med school in the fall of 2001.

22 AUG 00 UPDATE:  Jack reports that he has passed the bar. According to Jack, the North Carolina Bar is a little unique.  "Of course it was in NC so (the bar was) mostly about whether rednecks have to wear shoes in public and how many tiedowns you have to have on your trailer to be legal." 3 OCT 00 UPDATE:  Jack has a new address, phone number, and email.

3 OCT 00 UPDATE:  Michael just finished his first month as the ward resident at Walter Reed. According to Michael, that's the guy who admits patients to the medicine floor and also decides where a lot of patients should go, i.e. ICU, cardiac intensive care, etc. He also just started in the ICU as the resident there and shocked a lady out of atrial fibrillation, which was a first for him. Michael sent me another quick update on his ICU duties:  "I'm working in the ICU this month. I worked the other night with Inku Huang- he changed from Nuclear Medicine to being a GI fellow. I had 3 GI bleeders overnight, so we ended up spending a lot of time together. It was sort of funny. We had a good time. Everyone lived. Beat the dean. Michael" 20 FEB 01 UPDATE:  A belated congratulations to Hank and Jenny on the birth of their first baby. Gilbert Owren "Gil" Hankinson was born on 5 October 2000. I saw Hank (along with Michael and Luminita) this past January in DC and he was thoroughly enjoying fatherhood. He said that just when it seems like you can't take another sleepless night, the little guy looks up at you and smiles and everything is right.

Hurricane Hank:  (Brian Hankinson)
Hank got married to Jenny in '98 I think. He is currently at U of Md where he is getting his masters in history and then heads to West Point in the fall of 2001 where he'll be a P in the history department. He sees Michael Ellis from time to time. I ran into him at the WP homecoming game last fall. He is JBR V's godfather and we were both at WP that weekend for JBR V's baptism at the cadet chapel.
Hurricane Hoop:  (Scott Hooper)
Hoop, Stephanie, Blaine, and Scotty PCSed to Ft Benning from Ft Polk last summer. Hoop was an O/C at Polk and a SGI at Benning now. I've been TDY to Benning several times since the Hoops arrived there and they're all doing great.

"BQ, Good to hear from you, too. Here is the life story up to now.
"Got back from Korea, got married, moved to Fort Riley. Left there about 96, went to Honduras with JTF Bravo as a construction inspector. Did the advanced course and masters completion at UMR Rolla then went to Germany (98). Just got back from there last spring. Started in the S3 OPS shop since at Fort Bragg doing the AC/RC thing.
"My wife's name is Mary Stuart. Knew each other in high school, so going home to visit the family is easy with everyone in one place. This is the first time we have been close to Charleston SC, so we are living it up. My daughter is Morgan McKay (another double name), she's two, born in Germany. Well traveled young lady, and as hard headed as her daddy.
"Life is treating us well in this assigment. After being in a division for so long, I kind of welcome the change of pace. Rick lives a couple blocks away. The wives and kids see each other alot, but we manage to get together when we can.
"Plan to go see Jack again soon (probably summer). Lydia and Mary Stuart talk alot, so we keep up with each other. Loves Morganton, and you'll never get me to admit it to him, but I am kinda fond of the area, too.
"Take care, write soon. John"  "Hey Rob, I have to apologize for taking so long to respond -- God, this summer's whizzed by!
"To answer your questions, first, I'm back in my hometown in Prescott, AZ, again. Second, I'm in school (didn't learn enough smarts the FIRST time!) to get my nursing (RN) degree and also working part time at UPS slinging boxes around. I was also working at the college in the microbiology department tending the bugs and stuff, but that had to take a back burner as I've become pretty busy. My husband's a firefighter/paramedic. (Something I wanted to do for a while but couldn't, so I married one instead!)" Alexandra Ystueta
20 FEB 01 UPDATE:  Congratulations to Billy and Nadia who had their second child on 28 December 2000! Faust Aidan Ystueta weighed in at a healthy 11 lbs 3 oz and measuring 23 inches. Both Nadia and Faust are doing great.

4 AUG 00 UPDATE:  Peekster checked in with this update:  "Kristy and Nathaniel are doing great - Nathaniel just turned 20 months, and is full of energy. Baby Peekster # 2 is due January 7, 2001. If I can somehow get Kristy to deliver NLT midnight 31DEC2000 (which is only 1 week early), then I can get a tax break for tax year 2000 -- ha-ha.
"I'm still working for Litton Industries, running the QA department that tests and inspects all of the night vision equipment that we sell to Uncle Sam. Location is great, hours are great (lots of time with the family - unlike Korea or Stewart) money is average (I was doing better in terms of $$$ at Lucent, but didn't like the people, nor the mega corporate culture). Been here in the Dallas area 2 + years, and am glad we ETSd when we did." 20 FEB 01 UPDATE:  Congratulations to Dave and Kristy who had their second child on 4 January 2001! Samuel David Peek joins big brother Nathaniel (2 years old) as heirs to the Hugh Peekner legacy.

Work here with a name that conjouls up pleasant memories: George Franco. Was in Kentucky with Hank and Dan Moll for a little while. Have not kept in contact with anybody but Jack over the years. If attendance is possible, look forward to next year." Will Proctor

PS is a ROTC instructor at Southern Illinois University. He's also getting his masters in CS. He is married (I was able to attend his wedding while I was on R&R from Bosnia) and has 3 kids now I think.
Hurricane Peekster:  (Dave Peek)
Dave got out in May '98 from Stewart. He is married to Kristy and has a Hugh Peekner Jr. (Nathaniel) running around. After getting out, Dave took a job with Lucent Technologies in Dallas, but didn't care much for it, and switched to Litton Industries. They make night vision devices - PVS7s etc.... at Litton. He lives in Dallas.

Just received a note from Ranger Proctor last week. He and Lesley are living in Savannah and have a 18 month old son (Will). Rob just took command of HHC/1/75. He says he loves his second command so far and they just found out they are expecting another child in February. Last time I saw Robbo was at Army/Navy last year.
Almost 2 years old!
Hurricane BJ:  (John Richardson)
For those of you who haven't heard, BJ is a TAC. He just completed the TOEP program and is a Buckner TAC this summer. He will be C-4's TAC in the fall. BJ and Deanie have a little girl (Mary Alex) and a little boy (JBR V - "Jack"). Jack was born at Keller last summer and guess who was in the delivery room -- MAJ Smith!  "BQ, Sorry your emails weren't getting through. My internet provider got bought out by MSN and I had to change my email address. Forgot to update at the AOG when that happened. I just started getting into the internet in the last year - I didn't realize we had a company Web page at the AOG site. Just found it tonight which is why I'm sending you this email. :)
"I am currently taking over the S3 position at 3rd BN (TS)(EN), 315th Regiment. The TSB is located in New Cumberland, PA at the DDC. This AC/RC stuff is different. DDC doesn't have much in the way of facilities. I miss the 24 hr shopettes at Fort Hood. Our BNs biggest mission right now is running SASO Lanes at Fort Dix for SFOR 10. In the summer, I'll be doing TAMs in VA (JUN) and Fort Drum (Jul & Aug) and of course back to Dix for Post Mob SASO Lanes.
"My twin, Tammy, got tired of the high cost of living in CA and moved here with me. We bought a nice little house in Camp Hill. Lucky for us our puppies usually get along. I have a Shiba Inu named Max; Tammy's little one is a Boxer/Rottweiller mix named Artie (Artemis).
"My email at work is teresa.wyatt@tsbncpa-ex1.army.mil and my number is 717-770-5989. Take care, T" 5 OCT 00 UPDATE:  YiPK checked in with this update:  "Hey, thanks for putting the website together--it's fantastic and I've had a lot of fun reading the updates of everyone. I wanted to send you a new email address because my current one will be out of service soon. In a world of mergers and aquistions (Pfizer bought out Parke-Davis) my email has become obsolete. The funny thing with joining Pfizer is that I've run into several West Pointers. George McNeely (H-3, 88) is a fellow district manager within my region so I run into him quite a bit. Also, I helped Chris Crosby (H-3, 92) come on board with Parke-Davis about 2 years ago. He works for my former manager in Olympia, WA. In fact, Chris has part of my old territory when I was a representative in Seattle.
"I am amazed by how much interaction that everyone has with other West Pointers. I ran into three other West Pointers at a recent Pfizer manager's meeting from different parts of the country and I didn't even know who they were.
"Anyway, I am applying to executive MBA programs so that I will keep working and still get an MBA. So if all goes well I will start MBA school next year at the company's expense.
"June is doing great. She is a Chemical Engineer working in Irvine. I met her in Texas while going through OBC. She's a Texas Longhorn and we got married after she finished school in June 1994. No kids yet but she's pretty excited about our 10 year reunion because she's never visited West Point before." Drop me a line when you get a chance, and I'll update your info. SEND ME SOME PICTURES TOO!
You can contact me at either of these two email addresses: Work or Home.

Hurricane Roop:  (Ron Rueppel)
Ron sent me a note with Chris Ostrander's email address, but he didn't fill me in on any his own details so I'm not sure what he's up to. I'm pretty sure he is out and married (Monica?).
Hurricane OJ:  (OJ Tatsuta)
OJ got out in '98 and is working as a global project manager in Silicon Valley. He says he is still looking for Mrs. Right.
Hurricane Big Al:  (Al Tiu)
Thanks to MAJ Smith I was finally able to track down Al. Al ended up going to medical school at the University of Chicago and graduated in 1995. He did his intern year at Eisenhower AMC in Ft. Gordon, GA and was able to finish his last 2 years of family practice at Travis AFB in California. Al's wife, Eveline, was a med school classmate and now an air force family practice doctor (MAJ). Al and Eveline have two kids, a son Ethan (3) and a daughter Ryan (1 1/2). Al says he's now a staff geek at Madigan in the FP department.
