'87--
There are 13 and a butt days remaining until the Class of 1987 gathers for its 20th Reunion. I anticipate you have brushed up on your plebe poop and USMA trivia by taking the first installment of Steve O'Dell's pre reunion trivia quiz. Rumor has it that several gray hogs out there are studying for the second round--Cadet supplies that are still in your household. As we know from the 10th year reunion, Marv Walworth and his evil twin Jody still possess the as for R-day uniform! This is the final message containing coordinating instructions for the weekend festivities. Please ensure that you bring a copy of your registration confirmation with you as this will serve as your e-ticket for each event. It is also recommended that you print a copy of the weekend's agenda as we will not be handing out any paper for this event. Entrance to West Point for those without a DOD sticker are Thayer and Stony Lonesome Gates only. Those with a DOD sticker may also enter through Washington Gate. As previously mentioned multiple times, parking at West Point is challenging at best. We encourage everyone to plan on arriving early for each event to allow for parking, walking and riding. Shuttle bus schedules and post maps are available at http://www.west-point.org/class/usma1987/ Plan on picking up your name tag and reunion gift at the first event for which you are registered. Those playing golf are asked to arrive at the West Point Golf Course between 1115-1130. The Golf Tournament will begin promptly at noon with a shot gun start. Please note that jeans are not allowed in the Alumni Review and Parade. The start time of the Army vs. Tulane Game has not yet been announced. If the game is an early afternoon game with kickoff before 1400 hours, the tailgate in Ike Hall will commence immediately after the game. If the game is a late afternoon game starting at 1600 hours or later, the tailgate party in Ike Hall will be held prior to the game. Throughout the weekend, a group of professional photographers from New York, will be documenting our activities creating a rich media DVD and still archive. Charlie Rogers and Bernie Banks have been working with Ross Whitaker, a well known photographer, to create this media package. The intent is to capture as much of our class as possible to give broad and inclusive representation of the history and experience of the class. As part of this endeavor, the sound portion will include 5 minute interviews with as many as want to participate. The topics are: Who We Were--How/why we became interested in USMA; Who We Became--Experiences during the 4 years, how we grew and changed at USMA; and Who We Are Now--Lives and successes of the Class following graduation and how these were influence by your experience at USMA. More information about this media project is available under the FAQ's section of the website. To access the FAQ's go to http://www.west-point.org/class/usma1987/ select Reunion News on the left hand side menu and than FAQ. I look forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks. Best Regards and Beat Tulane! Donna McAleer |
