Classmates,

Please grip hands and extend your prayers out to Paula who's son Marcus passed away last night after a long battle with numerous surgeries. If you have been following Paula's journal at CaringBridge, you will know of Paula's strength and courage thoughout this ordeal.  Enclosed is the most recent entry in the journal. More details on the service is to follow....

As a friend of the family, devastatingly, I am writing for Paula tonight to let you know that late this afternoon, her son, Marcus White passed away.

While he was a bit agitated and running a slight fever, Marcus had been resting off and on during the day today and such was sometimes par for the course. Late this afternoon, however, he began to have difficulty breathing and had an irregular heart rate. He coded en route to the hospital and the paramedics were not able to revive him.

I know Paula and the family has been comforted by your prayers, concerns and support over these extremely difficult months. She wanted you to know as soon as possible, and I hope I do her trust and your concern justice in this entry.

Services will be at Highland Park United Methodist Church in Dallas, but details are not determined yet. The site will be updated as soon as arrangements are set.

While everyone is in severe shock, Paula asks that you pray for Mariah who is having an extremely difficult time this evening. Being Paula, her first request was for her daughter; I humbly ask that you pray for Paula as well.

Life will never be the same without Marcus here. I hope Paula and Mariah find some solace in knowing that he is free of pain and suffering and the trappings of a body that belied his feisty spirit. I am grateful my family and me were fortunate enough to have experienced even a small part of Marcus' big heart. We are all blessed for having known him and for knowing his beautiful mother and sister.
