In more ways than one, Edward “Ted” McAleer is an ideal person to fill the role of executive director of USTAR, the Utah Science Technology and Research initiative.  USTAR is all about connections—linking ideas with funding, innovative thinking with resources, brains with government brawn—all in the name of long-term statewide economic and business development.

McAleer has made a career out of making connections, building metaphorical and literal bridges, of walking the path from goals to accomplishments. An undergraduate of West Point with a master’s in engineering from the University of Virginia, McAleer realized he “preferred to be a business guy” and needed the obvious—an MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business.
