The announcements of classmates retiring from the military and the ensuing email discussions about career/life transitions has inspired the genesis of career panel discussion during our 20th Reunion.

The Class of 1987 will host a Career Discussion on Friday, October 5, 2007 from 0800-0935 in the Great Hall at Herbert Hall (AOG Building, 698 Mills Road--location of the old ice rink!).  The format for the discussion will be a brief panel discussion on career transition topics well as a question and answer session.  Six panelists from the Class of 1987 whose diverse professional includes in various capacities in companies large and small, public and private, for profit and not for profit.

Discussion items will include:

   * Setting a career objective
   * Determining what you want to be when you grow up
   * Networking
   * The best strategies to employ in your career search
   * How to select the right company
   * Factors in evaluating job offers (it's not just the compensation package)
   * Small vs. Big / Public vs. Private / Profit vs. Not for Profit
   * How to "serve," while working in the public sector
   * Living your values in "Corporate America"

A detailed overview of the discussion topics, format, introduction of the panelists is available.

This discussion is a great opportunity to learn, network and share experiences with your Classmates. Panelists will share many different perspectives and lessons learned from their varied successful civilian careers.

There is no cost to attend this event.
