WP-ORG FUND DRIVE 24 IS UNDERWAY! Thanks for your support. If you'd like to donate, please do so through our secure credit card interface.
As of now, 1353 donations have been made, raising $80571.44 towards our goal of $107937.
... Get out of the way!
In some terms I think this has been the WWW.WEST-POINT.ORG "motto" All of us
have an attachment to West Point and many of you receiving this are USMA
graduates. From plebe year on, there has always been the push to do
something, sometimes anything, but to take an action. You understand this
sentiment.
The action you take may not always be right, and it may not be
wrong, but at the very least, it is an action.
So we are now in Week 3 of a fund drive. WWW.WEST-POINT.ORG is asking you to
take an action. Your choice.
You have several choices. That is another thing about WWW.WEST-POINT.ORG We want you to
have choices. We want you to vote, with your email, with your feet or with
your dollars. We stand for "re-election" every 6 months. You fund us or we
go out of business. Simple, clear, concise.
What are your main choices? 1. Do nothing (always a choice, but
often a poor one) 2. Send money
That's pretty much it in this case. Other times you may have
the option to detour, bypass or out-flank, and you can try that here, but
with minimal success.
WWW.WEST-POINT.ORG has taken
the lead from inception. We were first, leaders in the field, electronically
linking the Long Gray Line. We are continuously working to remain first and
best in what we do.
What is that? What is our core (or is that Corps?)
competency? Connect graduates to West Point and each other. Facilitate the
free and open exchange of ideas and discussions. Allow debate, comment
and ridicule. But...remain professional, competent and caring. Honoring the
service of those before us, and our legacy to the future.
How do we do that? With the power of the internet, with the
wp-forum, with the class and group mail lists, with free email for life,
and with the eulogy pages.
What is the cost? A few dollars per person, per month or per
year. $20 per graduate would keep us running forever.
So I have to ask again, what are YOU going to do? Are you going
to lead the way, donate in support of WWW.WEST-POINT.ORG, support
the services you use and enjoy, or do you pick another path?
If you choose the same path as me, you donate. Simple, easy,
tax deductible, and almost painless.
Please go to: www.west-point.org and donate now. If
you can't donate, or chose not to, at least let us know why and what we could do
to change your mind. email to

By WILL BARDENWERPER
Published: July 29, 2008 WASHINGTON — Caleb Campbell, a member of West Point’s class of 2008 and a seventh-round draft pick of the Detroit Lions,
woke up one day last week expecting to sign a $295,000 contract that
afternoon. He was anticipating the team’s season opener in September
against the Atlanta Falcons. Campbell still expects to be on the sideline this September, but it will not be as an N.F.L.
player. Instead, he has been ordered to return to West Point as a
second lieutenant assigned to assistant coaching duties for Army. |

Volunteers participate in drills — and have instructors bark at them
By Michael Hill Associated Press The senior spent hours with the civilian volunteers polishing his
form for reception day, or "R-Day," for the Class of 2012. At mock
R-Day on June 27, he practiced the finer points of leaning close to
mock plebes and pouncing on people who smirked. "THIS IS FUNNY?" Davies screamed at one volunteer. "YOU ARE WASTING MY TIME!"

Effective immediately, by order of the Superintendent, the words to the West Point Alma Mater, and "The Corps" have been changed to make them gender inclusive.2 June, 2008 Fellow members of the Long Gray Line,
I’m
writing to let you know that I have in fact decided to update the
lyrics to our Alma Mater and The Corps. The realization that these
songs explicitly exclude our women graduates–two of whom have given
their lives in battle–was the driving force behind the changes, and
it's simply the right thing to do. I have received unanimous support
for this decision from the Board of Visitors and the Executive Steering
Group, whose members are the Secretary of the Army, the Army Chief of
Staff, and the Army Vice Chief of Staff.

By Teri Weaver, Stars and Stripes
Pacific edition, Tuesday, March, 25, 2008 “I had a normal artillery career, until now,” said Haynes, a graduate of the
United States Military Academy in 1994. Now, Haynes’ major job is to be
around when people need him. Japanese officers
stop by his office to ask for help with translation, to update him on
meeting other foreign dignitaries, and often to invite him to
after-work parties. “His door is always open,” said Chiba, the Japanese
general. “We can work with him in our perspective. It is great.” |
