Subject: Update on 2 March, Memorial Service for Major Curt Feistner

The following is an update from Major Alan Feistner, USMA '85, on the Saturday, 2 March, Memorial Service for his recently deceased brother, Major Curt Feistner, USMA '90.

Dear Family and Friends,

The memorial service for Curt will be held on Saturday, March 2 at 1100 a.m. at St Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi, Minnesota (900 Stillwater Rd, tel 651.426.3261).

Immediately following the memorial service, we will have a reception with light refreshments. We hope you will share some of your past experiences with Curt.

For those unfamiliar with the Twin Cities, White Bear Lake and Mahtomedi are adjacent to each other and are located northeast of the Twin Cities. The closest airport is Minneapolis-St Paul. From 694, exit onto Hwy 120 and turn north. Drive 1-2 miles and turn right onto Hwy 244.

To St Andrew’s Church: ~2-3 miles and turn right onto Stillwater Road (County 12). Look for the Picadilly Restaurant on your right as you turn. Drive less than one mile and turn left at Hilton Trail into the church parking lot.

To our home: Drive ~2 miles and make a hard left onto County Road 29 or Birchwood Road-this road becomes Hall Ave; Drive ~1 mile and turn left onto Jay Street. After one block, turn left onto Birchwood Ave. We are the 3rd house on the left.

For those who would rather not rent a car or stay in a motel, close family friends are offering to shuttle guests to/from the airport and to house guests. Please contact Marion Johnson at 651.426.3844(mjo@tcinternet.net) and she will coordinate rides or overnight accommodations. If you send an email to Marion, please courtesy copy me (Alan Feistner) at feistnerlund@yahoo.com.

We have also coordinated a block of rooms under “memorial service for Curt Feistner” at the Emerald Inn of Maplewood, 649 White Bear Ave, Maplewood, 651.777.8131.

Our family spent the past two days at Ft Campbell, Kentucky where Task Force 160th (Curt’s unit) conducted a memorial service for Curt and the other soldiers killed on Feb 22nd. The events were moving and Task Force 160th soldiers provided us with spirit raising conversation. The Army notified us yesterday they recovered Curt’s remains. We are coordinating to move his body to Minnesota where he will be interred at Ft Snelling at a time yet to be determined.

Many have expressed an interest in sending flowers or contributing money for a memorial fund. In lieu of flowers, we are researching a memorial fund in Curt’s name. I expect we will have details at the service on Saturday. For those who are unable to attend the service, we will update you in a future email.

If you have questions, please contact us at tel. 651.426.3710 stop by 705 Birchwood Ave, White Bear Lake, MN 55110.

Unfortunately not everyone has email. Please provide this information to others who may be interested and not addressed in this email.

Once again we appreciate the outpouring of support to us in this difficult time.

Arlene, Alan, & Bruce
