Subject: July/August '04 Class Notes

Below are Class Notes from the current Assembly, which Tom Vossman kindly provided:

It has been a slow couple of months with little news from the class. I was asked by one of our classmates to “push” more information to you going forward and I will certainly strive to do all I can. Getting information that might be helpful (such as promotion lists) are more difficult to obtain as a “civilian” given the security issues we face today, however, again, I will attempt to do all I can. It remains that the most up-to-date and accurate information does come from our class.

Mar 10: Karson Snyder sent a great deal of information on many of our classmates. Karson was called up by DIA back in 2001 and has spent the last couple of years as an attaché in Pakistan, Jordan, India, and of course, Iraq. Karson has run into numerous grads mostly working on the rebuilding of Iraq (fascinating stories Karson). Perhaps the greatest news is Karson and Yumiko are now the proud parents of Kai Anderson Imai Snyder born in August 2003. Karson was also able to take up some serious running while deployed for over 2 years on TDY and participated in such events as the Dead-to-Red 242km Marathon that is run with a team of 9 participants. Now back in Atlanta for a short stint, Karson has been accepted back in the active duty where he will most likely be assigned to 1st CAV as an S-3 or XO later this year. Karson could actually be assigned to a unit that might be commanded at the brigade level by one of our classmates or better yet, his battalion might be commanded by one of his former beanheads! Finally, Karson reports that one of the proud G-3 Gophers, Mike Pasco, will be assigned to a year of active duty later this year!

April 3: I ran into Leo Rodriquez at a local West Point Society luncheon and he is doing quite well. I also heard from Jeff Pike who is now serving as a Professor of Military Science at Stephen F. Austin University, located north of Houston a few miles. He and Kelly are the proud parents of two boys, Michael and Matthew, both born in the former Soviet Union.

That is all the news for now. As soon as I know more about the 20th reunion, I will be sure to let you know. I would plan on the reunion taking place the 2nd or 3rd weekend in October, 2005. Until next time ’85, you have my best!
