To honor our '85 Fallen Heros, I would like to prepare a Remembrance Book for each, starting with Mike McMahon.  This is a group effort, and it's a way we can show Mike's family that we loved and cared about him, and we appreciate his service and the extreme sacrifice he made for our country.  I encourage each member of our class to put some energy into making this something his wife and kids will cherish.

Hi Classmates,

I am preparing a “Remembrance Book” for Mike McMahon’s family.  I would like to include personal stories, pictures, thoughts, prayers, poems, and anything else we can put in the book.  I would like to do this as a class for each of our fallen heroes.  I didn’t know Mike well at school, so I don’t have any personal stories to add to this album, so I am requesting that each of you that knew him to share some stories, and if any of you have pictures or anything else that would help bring Mike to life for Jeanette and his sons, will you please send a copy to me.

I will get the memorials that are posted on his AOG memorial page, but I would like to add stories like “do you remember when he/we did this and that…” and what happened, to bring him to life for his kids to remember him by, twenty years from now.

If like me, you didn’t know Mike well, please take a minute to write a note thanking his family for his service and sacrifice, or to provide a prayer.  The time period for this book is Mike’s entire life, so anything goes – Our goal is to remember Mike the way he’d like to be remembered.  Proud, fun-loving, and full of life.  I have set 22 May 2006 as the goal to have this book completed and ready to give to his family.

Thanks,

Valerie

p.s. This idea came from an organization that calls itself Moms of Marines.  They are preparing a remembrance book for each fallen Marine.  A picture of one of their books is in our photo gallery.  The Marine in this book was KIA recently in Iraq, is from North Alabama, and his wife gave birth to his son on 3/20/06.

Who was the first in our class to -get married, have a child attend USMA, join the Navy?
