The Army women's tennis team's record-breaking season came to an end on Friday afternoon, as the eighth-seeded University of California-Berkeley handed the Black Knights a 4-0 loss in the NCAA Regional round of play at Cal's Hellman Tennis Complex. Army finished the year with a program-record 26-8 mark and returns six of its top eight players for 2008-09.

 For the fourth time in five years, and eighth time in history, Army will participate in the Patriot League Tournament. The top-seeded Black Knights captured their fourth Patriot League regular-season championship and will host fourth-seeded Bucknell in one of the Patriot League's best-of-three semifnal series this weekend at Doubleday Field.

The Black Knights gathered in the Regimental Room of the Cadet Mess Hall on Friday night to hand out its annual team awards. Sophomore Matt Kyler, senior captain Fernando Martinez, sophomore Ryan Mergen, freshman Casey Thome and sophomore Richard Starks were all recognized during the evening's events.

Fans who can not attend this weekend's Patriot League Baseball Tournament series between Army and Bucknell at Doubleday Field will have plenty of options to follow the action. The postseason starts Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.

Inclement weather forced the postponement of Friday's games at the 2008 Patriot League softball tournament. Action resumes Saturday at Lehigh's Kaufman Field with game times moved up to 10 a.m.,12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
