I enjoy staying up-to-date on classmates in the Assembly. Since I have not sent something in for many years, I decided to do it now. My wife, Cindy, and I have two great teenagers - Tess (16) and Sean (15). As parents, we have finally come to grips with the fact the kids do not want to take vacations with us anymore. We just got back from a vacation in CA (Magic Mountain and Disneyland). They would rather hang with their friends, especially since they both have a respective boyfriend and girlfriend. We are planning for Tess to attend college soon. She is the liberal artist (talented potter and painter) and plans on being a psychiatrist. Sean is more interested in girls than school. I am horse poor due to Cindy's equestrian hobby. She has one horse she rides, The second horse is out to pasture - literally. I pay for him to graze peacefully on a farm. I can only hope I am treated as well when I retire. We finally made it back to Arizona seven years ago. We are enjoying being around family and the nice weather. Don't believe the dry heat explanation - 115 degrees is unbearable no matter the humidity. Almost two years ago, I decided to leave the corporate world and bought a commercial construction business. I am a general contractor doing mostly office renovations and some ground up construction. I am once again applying all I learned in engineering classes at USMA. It is a great life. I should have done my own thing sooner. I golf whenever I can and brew and drink my own beer. The Class of '85 has an open invitation to drink a cold one if you are ever in Phoenix. That's my update. God bless to all and I will continue to read about the rest of the class on the website and in Assembly. |

Note that some names will be on the list twice because both parents are from our class. |

We have all heard about them, we’ve seen them in pictures that grab the headlines and the internet, and I’ve had the honor to see them in action. The Patriot Guard supports any military activity or event to which they are invited.

The class of '58 started a mentorship program for Warriors that begins here at Walter Reed and then passes on to follow-on mentors once Warriors medically separate or retire from the service. The follow-on mentors are located throughout the country and pick-up helping these Veterans transition into their local communities and the VA system. This program has branched out to other West Point classes and the POC is Lee Miller at:

For anyone wishing to support our wounded Warriors. The Walter Reed Army Medical Center website outlines procedures for making donations to our Warriors and their Families:
http://www.wramc.amedd.army.mil/Support/Pages/default.aspx
Also for those in the DC local area, the website identifies volunteer opportunities.
I am honored to have the opportunity to be a part of the Army's effort to improve care for our wounded Warriors. Our classmates who are continuing to serve and lead in Iraq and Afghanistan deserve our best support as they fight everyday to protect our Soldiers as they accomplish a demanding mission.
Thanks for your support of our Warriors! -- Terry

Americans gave millions of dollars in the past year to veterans charities designed to help troops wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan, but several of the groups spent relatively little money on the wounded, according to a leading watchdog organization and federal tax filings.
Eight veterans charities, including some of the nation's largest, gave less than a third of the money raised to the causes they champion, far below the recommended standard, the American Institute of Philanthropy says in a report. One group passed along 1 cent for every dollar raised, the report says. Another paid its founder and his wife a combined $540,000 in compensation and benefits last year, a Washington Post analysis of tax filings showed.

We continue to update the list of '85 Class Firsts.
Doug Frank provided some preliminary poop about the first Army-Navy Football Relay in 1984. Doug and Tim Grammel organized a platoon of runners to run a game ball from West Point to Philadelphia. As an exchange cadet at Navy, Tim learned that Navy had been running a ball to the game for several years.
If you were involved in the first Football Relay, please send your names and your recollections of the event to
