Decoteau Family Loss

Dear Proud to Be ’83,

It is my solemn duty to inform you that we have lost another classmates’ son supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.  PFC Marc Decoteau, 19, of Waterville Valley, New Hampshire.  Decoteau was the son of Mark and Nancy Decoteau ’83.  Mark is town manager in Waterville Valley, which has about 300 year-round residents. The loss also is being felt in Warren, where Nancy is town administrator.  Marc enlisted in the Army after his graduation in 2008 from Plymouth Regional High School.

His remains were to return on Sunday, 31 January at Dover, Del., Air Force Base.

He was assigned in Afghanistan as part of a Psychological Operations unit based out of Fort Bragg, N.C.

Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Mark, Nancy, Maddie and Andrew during this difficult time.

I will keep you updated as information becomes available.

There is a nice article on Marc in the Boston Globe:  http://www.boston.com/news/local/new_hampshire/articles/2010/02/01/waterville_valley_man_killed_in_afghanistan_remembered_warmly/

Marc’s favorite Bible passage was Romans 8:18: “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed to us.’’
