Red Sash Print Project

In February 1997, the Class of 1980 entered into an agreement with Vladimir Arts to sponsor the 1998 West Point Series print entitled "The Red Sash".  Under the terms of the agreement, the Class purchased 500 prints to be signed by prominent people chosen by the Class.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Class purchased the prints for $46,250 (cost of print, donation to the MacArthur Foundation, travel and sales expenses).  The prints are sold through Vladimir Arts for $500 each.  We pay Vladimir Arts a commission of $75 for each print sold.  If all 500 prints sell, our Class will net $166,250.

Our break even point is around 110 prints sold (including the Class purchasing print #76 for future use and paying shipping and handling for artists proofs to be presented to the signatories of our print).

The people signing our print are:

    GEN John R. Galvin
    GEN Barry McCaffery
    Coach Mike Krzyzewski
    Senator Bob Dole
    Ms. Elizabeth Dole

As a special arrangement, members of the Class of 1980 were able to purchase these prints with our Class Crest in the lower left corner.

Status of Sales
We have sold enough prints to pay all costs plus contribute a modest amount towards our $500K class gift goal.  Every print sold from here on out represents a donation to the class of $425.  Sell a print to an acquaintance or total stranger during the official campaign period and we will consider the class proceeds as part of your giving total for recognition purposes!  Make sure you or the buyer notifies me so I can ensure proper credit is given.  Now for the fine print - this credit is not tax deductible, it will be tracked by the Fund Raising Committee, and will not be reflected in any documents provided by the AOG depicting giving totals.
