Welcome to the new Top of the Line 1979 webpage!

This new webpage uses Joomla - a Content Management System (CMS) that allows muliple people, even those who don't know anything about HTML and web design, to add content to a webpage. By using Joomla, everyone in the class will be able to post the latest news about themselves or other classmates, upload pictures from reunions and other class functions, participate in discussion forums about class activities, etc. The new webpage will also enable classmates to get the latest contact info of other classmates and stay in touch better.

A key feature of this new website is that there is a restricted part that is only accessible to classmates and other folks associated with the class like ex-classmates, widows or other family members. To access this classmate-only portion of the website, you must login using the login form located beneath the USMA Links menu on your left. Once logged into the classmate-only part of the website, you can upload pictures or submit articles, either in the general class news area or in one of the regional pages. You can also view/participate in web discussions or search a database to get the latest contact info for a classmate. (You can also update your contact info when you move, change phone numbers, e-mail addresses, etc.) Since your contact info is in a restricted area, you don't need to worry about "casual" browsers or spammers finding it. Also, since the web discussions are in the classmate-only part of the website, we can be as "politically incorrect" as we want without having to worry about see something a classmate posted (probably Jody! ) on the front page of the New York Times the next day!

To login, you can use your west-point.org account (which all grads have). Your west-point.org username is based on your Cullum number, e.g. wp37076. (The class of 1979 has Cullum numbers in the range 36247 to 37169.) All of the usernames start with 'wp" followed by your Cullum number. If you don't know your Cullum number, you can find it in a Register of Graduates, call AOG at 845-446-1544 or send AOG an e-mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . Once you know your Cullum number, you can activate your west-point.org account and get your password by clicking on the link at the bottom of the login form mentioned above. If you don't have a west-point.org account, you can request an account for this website by clicking on the Contact Webmaster link on the Main Menu to send me an e-mail.

When you have your username and password (either from west-point.org or from the webmaster), you can login into the classmate-only portion of the website. After you login, you'll see that a User Menu has replaced the USMA Links menu on the left. You'll also see a "Welcome to the classmate only section" article that briefly explains the features in this part of the website. There is also a link on the User Menu to a user tutorial which has more information (and more importantly - pictures for us infantry types!) on how to upload pictures, post articles and participate in web discussions.

I hope you enjoy this new website and that it turns out to be a useful tool for the class to communicate and stay in touch. If you have any suggestions to improve the site, there is a web discussion forum in the classmate-only section where you can post them.
