Fellow
Classmates:
I want to take the time to update you regarding the
Capital Fund-Raising Campaign in support of the Class of 1968 Gift to the
Military Academy.
As you may recall, our pledge to West Point to
help fund part of the new library project was $2.5M. At our
35th reunion, we provided an initial down payment toward that pledge
of $500K.
The next phase in our commitment is to give another $1.0M
to seed some of the early stages of the construction costs, once the contract
has been let. That phase is upon us and we need to honor that
pledge. As of this notice to you, we have approximately $880K cash in hand
toward that $1.0M goal. There is a possibility that immediately available
assets could exceed the $1.0M requirement, but that is contingent upon some
pledges of stock quickly reaching a more favorable market
value.
The last phase of our $2.5M pledge will be the remaining
$1.0M due at our 40th reunion and we continue to accept pledges
toward achieving that goal.
I ask each of you who has made a
financial commitment in support of the Class Gift to consider accelerating your
2005 pledge to now rather than at the end of the year to help meet the immediate
$1.0M goal. For those classmates who have not been involved as yet, I will
be more than delighted to discuss with you the details of the project, why the
Class feels strongly about our involvement in this worthwhile endeavor and how
you can help. I can be reached at (317) 469-1208 or pdecoursey@finsvcs.com
.
Many
thanks to those of you among the 49% of Classmates who have already pledged
and/or contributed to help make the Class of 1968 look great!
Best
regards,
Paul A. DeCoursey
