| USMA 1968 Fallen Graduates Memorial Scholarship Program |
As you know, last year through an initiative launched by Craig and Susan Carson and backed by generous contributions (currently totaling over $200K) from members of our Class we established an endowment fund at AOG to support a scholarship program for children of Academy graduates who are killed in action. AOG will administer the scholarship program. AOG has also included this project among it's ongoing fund-raising efforts - - the attached brochure is being used by AOG's development team in discussions with potential contributors, including other USMA classes. In this regard, we are pleased to advise that the Class of 1965 has pledged $300K in support of the scholarship endowment fund as part of their 50th Reunion Class Gift to West Point. Under Craig Carson's continuing leadership, a committee of classmate volunteers is working to identify an appropriate recipient of a one-time $10K scholarship funded by our Class treasury to launch the Fallen Graduates Memorial Scholarship Program. That committee is also exploring other possible types of assistance that might be provided to families of Academy graduates who are killed in action and is coordinating with other organizations that are potential sources of assistance for families of the fallen.
