Charter members of the newly-formed Mountain Chapter of the 64 Adventure Club skied in Colorado-famous "champagne powder" under sunny skies at Aspen, Colorado for a week in February 1997. The trip welcomed both skiers and other "adventure hounds."!

The picture of Magruder and Michela with their map is instructive! Questions about their past performance with map reading courses were deftly deflected with requests for ponchos and red-filter flashlights. Thankfully, Chris Shore came by in time to direct them to their target 180 behind them! Beat your chins in guys!

The next photo is of Dykes, the Snake, who managed to leave Helene behind in Mission Viejo and then focus his beady-eyed attentions on his classmates spouses.. who unfortunately, seemed to enjoy the attention. The photo of the harem is atop Ajax Mountain at Aspen.

The terrain photo is from the chair lift heading up Aspen Mountain and is typical of the country were skiing. There are four mountains here with unlimited trails to ski, and the grooming is the best Ive ever encountered.

The group members arrived from distant places in the U.S. - Washington, DC, , VA; Orlando, FL, California and Boston to launch the first 64 Mountain Adventure with skiing, touring, shopping, dog-sledding and more. Members included Chris and Anne Shore; Bob and Angie Magruder; Bob and Catherine Michela; Dan and Sue Hornbarger; Steve and Angie Perryman; Jack and Sam Price; Andy Dykes; Bob and Carol Almassey; and friends of the Hornbargers - the Skorpowskies and the Bells.

The Mountain Chapter stayed at the Aspen Club Condominiums in Aspen, Colorado. All members gathered at the Aspen Club on Saturday evening, following arrival, for cocktails, greetings and general information about the four ski mountains (Aspen, Snowmass, Buttermilk and Highlands) and guidance on ski rentals, restaurants, apres skiing, shopping and other mountain adventures such as paragliding, dog sledding, snowmobiling, etc.

On Sunday, following a full day of new snow and skiing at Snowmass and other activities, the group met for dinner at Su Casa. Before dinner while waiting for a table, the group shot pool. Teams of four, including Angie Magruder and Carol Almassey, played team matches. Showing great skill and a little "luck" , it should be noted that the ladies were members of the winning teams at both tables.

Club photos were taken on mountain by Aspen photographers and by Andy Dykes and Jack Price

On Tuesday, there was a group dinner at the Chart House and on Friday, the chapter had an organizational meeting and pizza dinner at the Shores condo to plan next years ski mountain adventure, while suggestions were taken for other Adventure Club trips, including scuba diving, river rafting, sailing, etc. This years Mountain Adventure Aspen trip was planned by Chris and Ann Shore, Bob and Angie Magruder and Bob and Catherine Michela, with Chris Shore acting as Trip Captain.
