Many of you expressed a desire to have a get together in the western states.
Therefore I flew down to Mesquite NV and checked out the various resorts and
golf courses. My thoughts were to get a venue that was relatively
inexpensive, fairly easy to get to, had good golf courses, mild weather, and
plenty to do other than play golf. For example visiting nearby National
Parks such as Zion, Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, a state park, shot gun
shooting, and of course gambling in the numerous casinos.
The best deal I could get based upon a minimun of 12 attendees was at the
Casablanca Resort. It is also the nicest resort. There are 5 golf courses
within 5 min of the resort. The manager suggested that we use a time in late
Nov to escape the heat (avg temp @80) and to get the best rates. He
suggested that we start on the 28th of Nov and spend three days. Then those
who wish could spend a few days in Las Vegas. Mesquite is about an hour
north of Las Vegas which has a great airport to fly in and out of
Visit the Mesquite web site www.visitmesquite.com to see pictures, videos, golf course descriptions and layouts, spas, available activities, The Casablanca Resort, etc. .
Room rate for a double room are $64.99 plus 9% tax. which equates to $35.42
per person. When you check in each person gets a coupon book for half priced
meals and other goodies. Meals range from gourmet to basic stuff and prices
are reasonable.
Golf Course Fees are:
Falcon Ridge $65
Casablanca $75
Palms $75
Palmer $90
Canyons $75
These fees include golf carts, 18 holes of golf, and all the range balls you
want to hit.
Fred Hinshaw joined me to play some golf and check out the facilities.
All those who are interested please let me know as soon as you can. If we
get enough to attend, then I will start further planning and negotiating.
Contact nearby friends who may not subscribe to the Forum. Finally you get
more info by Googling Mesquite.
