The Reunion Different

In

The City Different

Attention Fellow 58’ers, and the Wives, Families and Friends of the West Point Class of 1958!

The Six Amigos invite, and encourage, you to attend the Class of 1958 mini-reunion in the beautiful and historic city of Santa Fe, New Mexico. A city established in 1610, before the Pilgrims arrived at Plymouth Rock. We think you will enjoy the Great Southwest, and the chance to renew old friendships and to see classmates you have not seen in decades. There will be plenty of time to swap war stories. This will not be a revival of the Cow Year Trip. We stress informality. There is enough to do within walking distance of your hotel to entertain you for weeks, with the exception of Tom Sand’s golfing excursion, of course. The Santa Fe Visitor’s Bureau will be sending you some information on the city and surrounding area.

The Reunion Different in the City Different will take place:

Thursday, 1 November 2001 Through Sunday, 4 November 2001

Transportation

The nearest big city to Santa Fe with a big airport is Albuquerque. You can pick up a rental car here. Rental agencies include Advantage, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Thrifty and RentAWreck to name a few. In most cases you will not need a car. Parking for those who do is available as indicated in the individual hotel descriptions.

The Santa Fe Shuttle provides shuttle service directly from the airport to your hotel in Santa Fe. It is about a one hour ride, depending on construction along I25. The shuttle costs $21.00/person one way or $38.00 for a round trip ticket. Seniors (if any of you are in that category) go for $19.00 one way. The shuttle departs daily for Santa Fe from the Commercial Lane in front of the Southwest Airlines Baggage Claim Area. Departure times are: 0630, 0830, 1145, 1350, 1500, 1730, 2000, and 2245. You can get the Santa Fe to Albuquerque schedule from your driver.

Taxis will also take you to Santa Fe. The cost for a cab is about $79.00 for the first passenger, and a whole $0.50 for each additional passenger.

Weather and Clothing

In early November the low temperatures will be in the high 20’s or low 30’s. High temperatures will be in the upper 40’s or low 50’s. It will be sunny, and there may be some breezes in the area. In the sun you will be quite comfortable, in the shade you may feel cool. This is New Mexico however, so bring some warm clothing, just in case. Clothing is informal. No coats and ties for the dinner, or the Cocktail Hour preceding dinner. Just relax, have a good time, and meet with old friends.

Free Time Activities

For those Classmates that show an interest in attending the Reunion Different in the City Different subsequent mailings will include information on shopping (there are numerous shops around the Plaza and on the neighboring streets to start, or finish, your Christmas shopping), available tours you can book, and for “Pasture Pool” addicts, Tom Sands will be organizing a golf outing, or two.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

While in Santa Fe you will be at about 7,000 feet altitude. A word to the wise; it takes a lot less alcohol to effect you, and if you are not from the high country you should be careful about engaging in strenuous exercise.
