James Bruce Morgan

James Bruce Morgan died on February 1, 2016 at Anne Arundel Medical Center at the age of 81. He was born in Cincinnati, OH to the late Elizabeth and Austin Morgan on December 4, 1934.

He lived in the Arnold / Severna Park, Maryland area since 1977. His past residences include Cincinnati, Chicago, Columbus, OH and Florham Park, NJ.

Jim attended Purcell High School in Cincinnati, where he was a member of the Ohio State Championship football team. He attended the University of Cincinnati and was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity and Army ROTC. He was then appointed to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and graduated in 1958. He served in the Army from 1958-1962 where he attended artillery school, became an airborne ranger, and “earned his wings” in flight school at Fort Rucker, Alabama where he met his late wife Peggy T. Morgan.

He started his career in the corrugated box business at Meade Paper Company in Cincinnati in 1962. In 1982 Jim and his wife Peggy founded The P.T. Morgan Packaging Co. of Arnold and The P.T. Morgan Paper Company of Smyrna, DE.

Jim was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Chartwell Golf and Country Club, Annapolis Yacht Club, New York Athletic Club, and the West Point Societies of Annapolis, Washington, D.C. and New York. He was preceded in death by his wife Peggy Tindol Morgan, brother Thomas Morgan and sister Marcia Morgan.

Jim was the devoted father of Debbie Morgan Sanders (and husband Steve) of Troy, Alabama, Cynthia Morgan Moss of Severna Park and Marianne Morgan Persico (and husband Christopher) of Severna Park. Loving grandfather of Morgan, Sam, Caroline, Austin and Brice. Dear brother of Edward Morgan of Largo, FL, Sally Cohen of Cincinnati, OH, and Steven Morgan of Houston, TX.

Family and friends may visit on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 PM at Barranco & Sons, P.A. Severna Park Funeral Home 495 Ritchie Hwy. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9am on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 109 Duke of Gloucester St., Annapolis, MD. Interment will follow in Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville, MD.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Association of Graduates, United States Military Academy, 698 Mills Rd, West Point, NY 10996. Annotate check for the Class of 1958 Fund in memory of James B. Morgan.
