I am pleased to announce that by referendum vote under the provisions of Article VI, Section 1, of the Class Constitution concerning use of the Class Gift Fund the Class of 55 has agreed overwhelmingly to use the Class Gift Fund to support the expansion of capacity of the West Point Cemetery (Cemetery Development Project).
With 44% of the Class responding to the vote request, there were only five (5) NO votes. Your EXCOM has concurred with my proceeding with necessary coordination with AOG on the matter (Preparation by AOG of a Letter of Intent for my signature and a formal request for assistance in a Fund Drive).
Specifically, our Class Gift will fund one of the planned eight 100-foot sections of the North/Site Buckner Loop Columbaria Wall. Cost of this construction will be $260,000. The current balance in our Gift Fund is approximately $174,000. Over the next few weeks, Bob Strati and I will develop a Fund Raising Plan and will share it with all of you ASAP. We hope to reach the goal of $260,000 by the end of this year. I encourage those interested in supporting this initiative to contact either Bob Strati or me to make a definite pledge payable NLT the end of December, 2012.
I want to thank all of you for agreeing to take on this project. It is a most worthy cause and one that will ensure the legacy of this great Class will live /ad infinidum/.
President, Class of 1955
