Harry Milton York was born on 11 December  1930 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was appointed to West Point from the Organized Reserve Corps and entered on 3 July 1951. He was in Company E2, graduated on 7 Jun 1955 and was commissioned in the US Army in the Signal Corps.
