********************** I have to admit I did not know Joe very well. However, we were in the same battalion at West Point, so I saw him often. We had similar interests in Latin languages. In the summer of 1954), Joe and I wound up taking our summer leaves in the same place, Bloomington, Indiana. That summer, I saw a lot of Joe. We double-dated two beautiful Hoosier girls and had a lot of fun. I wish I had known Joe better. He was an outstanding person. Jim Ryan December 20, 2001)
