Charles Horace Symonds was born on 8 February 1932 in Essex, Connecticut. He was appointed to West Point from the 2nd Congressional District of Connecticut and entered on 3 July 1951. He was in Company F2, graduated on 7 Jun 1955 and was commissioned in the US Army in the Signal Corps.
